Apricot

The ancient Persians used to call the apricot “egg of the sun”. Cultivated in China more than 2000 years BC, the apricot probably reached the Middle East via the Silk Road . Thereafter it was introduced into Greece and Roma. Arabs then distributed it all around the Mediterranean region but mainly into Spain .

The apricot tree is from 4 to 6 metres high.

The apricot is a yellow orange coloured fruit with a velvety skin and a fleshy pulp; not so juicy but sweet and perfumed.
